Transfer Talk: Musiala Nears Switch to City Following Rejection of Bayern Proposal

Jamal Musiala has reportedly turned down a contract extension from Bayern Munich, heightening speculation about a potential move to Manchester City during the upcoming transfer window. The 21-year-old, whose current contract runs through 2026, appears poised to leave the troubled German club in pursuit of furthering his career with City.

Currently, Bayern Munich finds itself in a challenging position, trailing seven points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga standings and facing a 1-0 deficit against Lazio after the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 encounter in Rome. Furthermore, head coach Thomas Tuchel has declared his intention to depart from the club at the conclusion of his inaugural complete season, adding to the uncertainty at the Allianz Arena.

According to the Daily Star, Manchester City's efforts to secure Musiala's services could be met with competition from Liverpool. Additionally, Chelsea is rumored to be considering a bold move to re-sign their former academy player.

Bayern Munich is believed to be seeking a transfer fee of £80 million for Musiala, while negotiations concerning the player's wages are expected to revolve around £200,000 per week.

Since his debut in June 2020, Musiala has made 153 appearances for Bayern Munich and has been capped 25 times by the German national team.

In related transfer news, Football Insider suggests that Newcastle United may have to offload standout midfielder Bruno Guimaraes to maintain financial equilibrium, especially if European competition qualification remains uncertain. Spanish outlets are reporting that Barcelona may list winger Raphinha and defender Jules Kounde for sale as they grapple with ongoing fiscal challenges.

Lastly, transfer journalist Ekrem Konur has reported that Everton is among four Premier League clubs expressing interest in acquiring 31-year-old Galatasaray forward Wilfried Zaha, who parted ways with Crystal Palace the previous summer.
