Greenwood advises City to start defending from the front to defeat Blues.
Alex Greenwood affirmed that Manchester City's talented attackers will have to strengthen their defense when the four-man Chelsea team visits Joie Stadium this evening.
With the Conti Cup final against Arsenal awaiting the winner, City are confident after beating the Blues 1-0 in the Women's Super League last month.
The result ensured Gareth Taylor's side kept a fifth consecutive clean sheet in all competitions – a proud run that ended with a 2-1 win over Everton last Saturday.
But Greenwood is quick to point out that City's impressive 12-match winning streak, including seven losses, is down to the hard work of the entire team.
The 30-year-old England centre-back told LiveScore: "We want to give the strikers the best opportunity to come out and win for us.
"But the midfielders and the two outside girls [Chloe Kelly and Lauren Hemp] also did a lot of the defensive work in front of us.
"Bunny [Shaw] doesn't get enough credit either for what she does do with the ball.
She has a huge defensive role for us because the press starts with her.
“My supporters and I mainly emphasize keeping clean sheets.
“This is part of our training plan, individually and collectively.
“We have set ourselves goals for the season and keeping a clean sheet for us is as important to the team as the other girls scoring goals.
