Paul Reubens maker of Pee-wee Herman dies at 70
Paul Reubens, an actor best known for playing Pee-wee Herman, passed away on Sunday from cancer. He was 70.
"With a deep heart, Last night we said farewell to Paul Reubens, an iconic American actor, comedian, writer, and producer whose beloved character Pee-wee Herman delighted generations of children and adults with his positivity, whimsy, and belief in the importance of kindness," read a statement on his Instagram. Paul heroically and secretly battled cancer for years with his characteristic wit and grit.
When Tim Burton's 1985 picture Pee-wee's Big Adventure made its debut, the tale of "a guy and his bike" made a big cultural impact. A slew of expressions from childhood appeared all of a sudden:
